This is a juvenile Red Deer Stag during the rutting season. The rut takes place in the UK in Autumn and is fascinating to watch and photograph.

Something that you see and more often hear during the rut. The dominant Stag has the loudest and deepest bellow which attracts females (Hinds) in to his hareem. The biggest and strongest Stag get the right to mate with all the females in his Hareem.

Taken in Mid Wales the Red Kite is becoming a conservation success story in the UK, and especially in Wales.
Our largest native woodpecker the Green woodpecker unlike the other two (great spotted, and the lesser spotted) this bird is a ground feeder. It is insectivores eating mainly ants which it collects at the Ants nest.
The Black Headed Gull is a very common Gull in the UK. Its distinctive Brown head (which form part of its breeding plum) give it aways. The common name is a little confusing because the head in most birds is a chocolate brown in colour.
A common and widespread game bird introduced to the UK for shooting. That is such a shame because its a beautiful addition to our country side

Also known as the banded Dotterel or Pohowera in New Zealand, but the bird comes from th Plover family.
This is the female Orange tip which does not have the distinctive orange tips to its wings. One of our earliest flying butterflies here in the UK.

A pair of Avocets mate in the UK. This bird is made famous for being the emblem of the RSPB ( The Royal Society for the Protection of birds)
This Lark is distinguished from the other 81 species of lark by the crest of feathers on its head. The crest is raised in territorial or courtship displays,and when singing.
It is a rotund bird, with a light brown back, grey brest and buff belly, the face is white and black . It has a red streaked flank and red legs.

This beautiful little bird is a female Kingfisher. The female have a orange lower beak while the males is all black.

Located outside the Nottingham Playhouse the Sky Dish is an impressive work of art. It is a very large reflective dish reminiscent of a sky satellite dish. You can see St Barnabas Church reflected in the front of the dish.
A lone tree in the Peak District National Park Derbyshire
A lovely barn taken in Swaledale in the North of England. The picture was taken with an infrared digital camera. When taking Infrared images the greens turn white. So in reality this image was taken on a bright and sunny day.
Rannoch Moor is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is a fascinating place to visit. The tree has since fallen foul to disease and is no longer there. It’s a beautiful place for photography.
This lovely old boat situated on the Isle of Harris is the Kelly Gal. Taken with my digital Infrared camera. I love how the grasses look frosted and cold when in reality it was a bright and sunny day.
